U4GM Diablo 4 Helltide and Undercity Guide

Farming Torment XII in Diablo 4 feels less like a checklist and more like a rhythm you settle into after a few rough deaths. You run a Pit, dump materials, fix a weak slot, then chase the next source of drops. Some players buy time by checking D4 items when they're short on crafting resources, but the real gains still come from knowing which activity pays off for your build and your patience.

Pit Runs Still Set the Pace

The Artificer's Pit is where most serious endgame builds prove themselves. Around Tier 125 to Tier 128, mistakes start to hurt. Trash packs need to melt fast, or the timer gets ugly. Bosses like the Nangari Conjurer can turn a clean run into a scramble if your defenses aren't sorted. The upside is worth it, though. High Pit clears push Paragon Glyphs past awkward breakpoints, and a Glyph such as Tactician can climb beyond level 125, even if the upgrade chance drops to around seventy percent at that depth.

Activity Best Use Main Rewards
Artificer's Pit Glyph pushing and build testing Obducite, Glyph upgrades, Masterworking progress
Kurast Undercity Timed farming with clear goals Obducite, Primordial Dust, high-power gear
Infernal Hordes Loot volume and party farming Legendaries, Burning Aether rewards, Mythic Unique chances
Helltides Open-world slot targeting Aberrant Cinders, Tortured Gifts, gold and gear

Kurast Undercity Rewards Clean Play

Kurast Undercity has a different feel from the Pit. It's not just "kill everything and move." You're watching the clock, hunting Afflicted Monsters, and grabbing time beacons before the run slips away. The Nest and similar districts reward players who know when to split, when to group, and when to ignore a bad pack. The attunement system gives the run a nice push, because better pacing usually means better loot at the end. It's a strong stop when you need Masterworking materials without spending all night in one activity.

Infernal Hordes Bring the Loot Flood

Infernal Hordes are messy, loud, and honestly pretty fun when the group knows what it's doing. Ten waves can feel brutal on Torment XII, especially once Aether Fiends and event pressure start stacking up. Still, that pressure is the point. More kills mean more Burning Aether, and more Aether means better choices at the reward chests. Most groups lean into a simple plan.

  • Keep crowd control ready for dangerous elite packs.
  • Focus Aether events before chasing random stragglers.
  • Save burst damage for wave spikes and bosses.
  • Choose Spoils of Equipment when hunting upgrades, or Materials when crafting is the bottleneck.

Helltides Fill the Gaps

Helltides are still the dependable side of the loop. They're less intense than a high Pit push, but they're useful because you can target specific gear slots through Tortured Gifts. Run through dense packs, stack Aberrant Cinders, and open the chests that match what your character actually needs. That's the bit players sometimes forget. A perfect farming night isn't only about chasing Mythic Uniques. It's also about gold, tempering backups, spare aspects, and enough d4 gear options to keep testing without bricking your whole setup.
